Cinema One Originals 2011: Babaliktad ang Mundo Mo!

Now in its 7th year, CinemaOne Originals Festival brings together an eclectic group of veteran and newbie independent filmmakers whose works range from horror romcoms and idyllic explorations to very intimate experimental pieces. The festival runs from Nov. 9 to 15 at the Shangri-La Plaza Cineplex and the awards night will take at the Grand Ballroom, Crown Plaza Hotel, Ortigas on November 13.

For the jury, Cinema One hires critics Nicanor Tiongson and Dr. Benilda Santos, filmmakers Chris Martinez and Chito Roño and Christian Jeune of Cannes International Film Festival executive director for movies.

Apart from the features, Cinema One Originals 2011 will also pay special tribute to superstar Nora Aunor and filmmaker Mario O’Hara and will receive Originals in Philippine Cinema Award.***

Sa Ilalim ng Tulay

Directed by Earl Bontuyan

Like fish out of water, a family of Aetas find themselves lost and vulnerable when a volcanic explosion in the province displaces them to Manila. Instead of greener pastures, they are met with tall buildings, busy streets and buses, and a whole lot of trouble. WATCH TRAILER

Ka Oryang

Filmmaker: Sari Dalena

The film tells the story of Ka Oryang, an accidental activist who chronicles the suffering of women at that time through her writing and poetry. WATCH TRAILER

Cartas de la Soledad (Letters of Solitude)

Filmmaker: Teng Mangansakan

Rashid, a Maguindanaon comes home after living in Spain for 25 years. Disappointed upon seeing that his hometown hasn’t changed, Rashid secludes himself by writing letters in Spanish. This gives him temporary solace as a war begins to brew.

Big Boy

Filmmaker: Shireen Sen

Parents forces their to be an oil poster boy.

Mga Anino Sa Tanghaling Tapat

Filmmaker: Ivy Baldoza

The summer heat brings forth a sudden sense of freedom and growth and a splash of sensuality in this coming-of-age film about two barrio lasses and their outsider cousin, Ines.
